Coriolis

Coriolis Badly burned in the Seattle Yacht Club fire, Concordia Yawl Coriolis (#82) was shipped back to Padanaram for restoration in August 2002. Most serious damage was on deck and a summary of the repair project includes: Replace teak laid deck, toe rails, cockpit seat, coamings, winch blocks, bridge deck, all hatches and port side sheer plank (center section).

Javelin

Javelin Concordia Yawl #57, Javelin, is unique in that she has been owned by the same family, and in Concordia's care, since her launching in 1958. A fine example of Abeking & Rasmussen's work, Javelin is in remarkably good shape with nearly all her original frames and interior. Concordia purchased her from her last summer from her original owners. She is in the process of getting new mahogany sheer strakes and covering boards, locust toe rails & taffrails, and repairs to her winch blocks and transom planking.

Niam

Niam Concordia Yawl #24, Niam, was built in 1955 and has been owned by the Ryan family since new. Working with the owner and their surveyor, Concordia developed a comprehensive plan to restore the boat "for the next 50 years." Major elements of the project included a new wood keel, deadwood and stern post, new extended mast step and stainless steel tie-rod system, 36 pairs of frames, 32 floors and 7 planks each side. In addition we installed a new Yanmar diesel, propeller, shaft and drip-less shaft seal.

Streamer

Streamer Streamer (#21) underwent extensive restorations at the Concordia Company and is currently in commission in Islesboro, Maine. In order to facilitate these restorations Rusty Aertsen (also owner of #59 Snowbird and a Concordia 31 footer named Kestrel) and Brodie MacGregor of Concordia put together a partnership to purchase Streamer. In addition to Rusty and Concordia Company the partners in Streamer are Roger Burke of Ipswich, MA, and Jim Crawford of Brookline, MA.

Summer Wind: Deck

Summer Wind In the winter of 2009-2010, Concordia replaced the original deck on Summer Wind. The old deck lasted 45 years. There were certain areas, however, where water was getting through into the cabin. Hardware was stripped, rails & coamings came off, and the old boards were removed. Along the way, we found the winch blocks needed to be stripped & re-glued. The new deck is mahogany ply with dynel and multi-year paint.

Galatea

Galatea Alec White has owned his Alerion 28 for 10 years. He and his father bought consecutively built boats #'s 68 & 69. Alec is a great customer. He cares about top notch service and he is thoughtful about how to improve his boat. Every year he does one or two things to increase the safety of his boat as he is often sailing singlehanded. In the summer of 2007, Alec found himself going into tall waves and his original Yanmar 1GM10 (9HP) was barely helping him make any headway. He decided that it would be in his best interest to get more power.

Puffin: Repower

Puffin Puffin had her original Universal 11HP motor. The new owners had used the Universal for a couple of seasons and they didn't have a lot of confidence in it. Knowing they were going to keep their boat for a while, they decided to repower. We installed a new Yanmar 2YM15 in the Winter of 2007. The installation was a bit tricky. The steep shaft angle required tall beds and the motor to be tight in the shallow bilge under the cockpit. The new powerplant has increased the owner's cruising range and given them more confidence every time out.

Summer Wind: Repower

Summer Wind Dana and Carole Brackett bought former Tambourine and renamed her Summer Wind. His first order of business was to remove the gas GrayMarine and mate up with a Yanmar diesel. He opted for the 3JH4E. The installation included all new through hulls. The finishing touch was re-using tongue and groove pine originally used in a cottage in Connecticut in the mid-sixties to build her engine box.

Alacrity

Alacrity Alacrity is a classic Stuart Knockabout. She had many years buildup of bottom paint and she her original gel-coat was lacking for luster. Wanting to keep her for many more years, the owners had us strip the bottom paint and renew it with 3 coats of epoxy based barrier coat & 3 coats of bottom paint. The topsides were awlgripped. Finally, the rails were wooded and refinished.

Bright Morning Star

Bright Morning Star Bright Morning Star is a 1990 Sabre 34 with a new owner. At the insurance survey, it was found that the stringers were cracked. At the recommendation of the broker, the new owner brought Bright Morning Star to Concordia in the Summer of 2006. We removed the original sole, repaired the damaged stringers, cut and installed a new sole and varnished it.

Cygnet

Cygnet Little Harbor 38 Whisperjet owner, and Concordia customer had seen a teak dash on another 38. He had Concordia (in conjunction with Young's Electronics) renew the electronics package in the Winter of 2009-2010. The electronics upgrade offered the right timing to customize his dash with a new teak dash.

Heron

Heron Heron is Shields hull #2 and she is the oldest (#1 was destroyed in a fire). She had been on our property for several years after the previous owner had moved away. Concordia bought her from the previous owner and did some initial cosmetic work. We put her picture on a flyer over in Marion and Graham Quinn of Harding Sails found the perfect new owner.

June Bug

June Bug June Bug is a 20 year old Beetle Cat with a new owner. He wanted to return it to original condition. We removed the hardware, replaced the canvas deck, and replaced 3 frames, the quarter-round molding, and the half-round rail. We stripped and applied 8 coats of Epifanies™ varnish to the spars and all the bright work, including the transom. We stripped the topsides and brought it back with Brightside™ Dark Blue. Our customer should be thrilled when he returns from London next summer and goes for a sail on June Bug.

Kali B

Kali B Kali B was a project that was referred to Concordia by a boatyard in Nantucket. She is an Ocean Master 32 which the owner uses to fish offshore. Kali B needed a new deck, custom spray rail, hard top, and Awl-Grip job. The old plywood core deck was rotted out. We took it apart, and replaced the tanks beneath it. We rebuilt the deck using Penske Board. There were many areas in need of fiberglass repair above and below the waterline, and, in addition, we glassed in a new custom spray rail. Finally, we repainted the entire boat.

Papadede

Papadede C. Ray Hunt designed the Hiliner hull for Jim Bertram who was looking for a fiberglass deep vee to race off shore in Florida in the late 60s. Papadede (the Gypsy model) was purchased in 1970 by Stewart Forbes of Birchfield Farms ( S. Dartmouth , MA ) and remains the family's boat. After considering the purchase of a new Hunt, Charlie and Sandy Forbes felt the old Hunt had as smooth a ride as the new ones. They consulted with both Hunt and Concordia regarding the hull's condition and whether a restoration project had merit. Given the classic lines and history of the boat, Concordia was commissioned during the winter of 2006-2007 to restore Papadede to give the family grandchildren a boat they can cross the bay on with their kids.

Puffin: Mast

Puffin Puffin, owned by Parsons and David Clark, is a Herreshoff Cat Ketch. The freestanding main mast broke in a blow in Quick's Hole in August 2006. Previously made of mahogany with relatively short sections and short scarfs, we've built a new mast of sitka spruce using 20 foot boards. We are currently building coats of varnish and will have the hardware reinstalled and the mast stepped so the Clarks can enjoy September & October sailing in Buzzards Bay.

Puffin: Paint

Puffin Puffin is a Herreshoff Cat Ketch 30 new to Concordia last winter. She had a case of osmosis related bubbles on and around the waterline. We have exposed the region by sandblasting, filled the holes, barrier coated, and filled and faired the repairs again. Our painters took over and roll-and-tipped Aristo awl-grip and added a white boot stripe. She is looking great in 2006!

Salamina

Salamina Salamina is a custom Alden 45 built by Paul Luke in 1984. Until 2005 she was owned by George Denny & named Restive. In 2006, she was sold to Craig Shelton of New Jersey. Craig had spent years looking for a boat which was perfect for him - being incredibly strong and seaworthy as well as beautiful. In early summer 2006, he took Salamina from Padanaram to Perth Amboy, New Jersey. In early fall, Salamina broke her mooring in Tropical Storm Ernesto, and spent some time up against a train bridge.

Shaula

Shaula Shaula was designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built in 1965 by Wilfred Souter in Cowes. She has been maintained by Concordia since 1978. Inspection and subsequent survey in the winter 2005-2006 found the forward section of wood keel rotted and in need of replacement. The aft section was replaced by Concordia in 1981. We removed the ballast, cut back the hull and removed the keel, built a new keel, installed the keel, replaced the sections of cold molded planking, reinstalled the ballast and rebuilt the deadwood.

Tethys

Tethys Tethys is a Menemsha 24 that hails from Menemsha. Lovingly owned by the same family for 30 years, and cared for by Concordia for 15, Tethys underwent a major restoration in 2010. The seats and coamings were rebuilt, and the main bulkhead/ringframe was repaired. Then, sections of a wooden sheer clamp were replaced. The deck was refastened to the sheer clamp. The fiberglass hull was refastened to the sheer clamp, repaired in several sections, completely re-faired, and sprayed AwlGrip Jade. New rubrails and toerails were milled and installed. The rest of the wood on deck was stripped and refinished to match the new stuff. In addition, the steering system was rebuilt, as were the boomkin and bowsprit.
