Javelin
Concordia Yawl #57, Javelin, is unique in that she has been owned by the same family, and in Concordia's care, since her launching in 1958. A fine example of Abeking & Rasmussen's work, Javelin is in remarkably good shape with nearly all her original frames and interior. Concordia purchased her from her last summer from her original owners. She is in the process of getting new mahogany sheer strakes and covering boards, locust toe rails & taffrails, and repairs to her winch blocks and transom planking.
All brightwork is being stripped to bare wood in preparation for a full varnish job. Along with a newly-cut covestripe, the topsides and bottom will get faired and painted. Full mechanical service is complete and rigging service will follow. All of this work will help bring Javelin up into a higher place in the market. Concordia will plan to bring her to the WoodenBoat Show in Mystic, June 2011, and up to Maine for the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta and the Maine Boats, Homes &s Harbors Show in August 2011.
