Puffin: Mast

Puffin, owned by Parsons and David Clark, is a Herreshoff Cat Ketch. The freestanding main mast broke in a blow in Quick's Hole in August 2006. Previously made of mahogany with relatively short sections and short scarfs, we've built a new mast of sitka spruce using 20 foot boards. We are currently building coats of varnish and will have the hardware reinstalled and the mast stepped so the Clarks can enjoy September & October sailing in Buzzards Bay.
